The eighth annual Mission Creek Festival returns April 2-7, 2013. The six-day event takes over music venues and art spaces in downtown Iowa City, creating a community-wide celebration of music, literature, and food.

As with past festivals, this year will feature a strong balance of national, regional and local musicians, writers, and artists. The Mission Creek Festival is dedicated to inspiring and building the Iowa City area's artistic communities. Programming focuses on literary readings, music performances, public lectures, local food culture, and educational outreach. Each year the festival uniquely utilizes the existing cultural geography of Iowa City - bookstores, clothing stores, cafes, and performance spaces - turning the downtown area into an easily-navigated nexus of music, art, and transformative experiences.

Past festival performers have included: David Cross, Bon Iver, Beach House, Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, The Magnetic Fields, Guided By Voices, Thurston Moore & Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, John Waters, Patty Griffin, Greg Brown, Public Enemy, William Elliott Whitmore, D.A. Powell, Booker T., and hundreds more.

The 2013 Mission Creek Festival is supported by title sponsor University of Iowa Community Credit Union. Additional sponsors include the City of Iowa City, Jim Beam, New Belgium, and the Iowa City/Coralville Convention and Visitors Bureau.
