February, despite the frigid temperatures, is going to be another hot month for Des Moines theater. Whether your taste is for plays, dance, comedy or music there are several offerings this month that will delight your eyes and ears.

StageWest is kicking off the second half of their season with the Tony nominated David Lindsey-Abaire play Good People. Good People tells the story of Margie, recently laid off from her dead end job and facing the reality that South Boston offers her nothing. Margie ends up in the suburbs and begins to question what it is that grants success to some while others struggle. Performances begin on February 8th and run through February 24th. For ticket information visit StageWest Theater Company.

Des Moines Community Playhouse will stage the play Completeness through February 17th and is the first community theater in the country to produce it. Completeness follows scientists Elliot and Molly, a duo whose romantic entanglements are complicated by the fact that their emotional intellect is not matched by their astronomically high IQs. For more information visit The Des Moines Community Playhouse.

Des Moines Performing Arts' Dance Series kicks off with a bang this month. Two of the series' four performances take place in February. The series kicks off with Garth Fagan Dance on February 9th. Garth Fagan, best known for his choreography of The Lion King, will bring his company's blend of modern and Afro-Caribbean movement to Des Moines for one night only. In addition, Kodo, a blend of movement and Japanese drumming will perform on February 19th. Kodo, which can be translated to mean "heartbeat" will be a unique addition to the Dance Series and will explore the origins and impact of rhythm. Finally, Des Moines Performing Arts' Temple Comedy Series kicks off this month with The Second City: Laughing Matters at the Temple for Performing Arts.
