February's featured story is "The Mitten." In this annual Clubhouse at The Playhouse favorite, a young boy drops his mitten in the snow, and goes on without realizing it is missing. Some woodland animals discover the mitten, and something magical happens.
Join the Clubhouse at The Playhouse Gang each month, October-June, as they dramatize a favorite story using their imaginations and the costume pieces and props they find in their magic trunk. Audience members learn the Clubhouse pledge and secret handshake, and listen for the word of the day.
The 2012-13 season features a variety of stories, including "Puss in Boots," Mar. 8; "Little Red Riding Hood," Apr. 12; "Stone Soup," May 18; and a special Friday Funday event, "Diary of a Worm, a Spider and a Fly," June 13-15.
The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
