DM Playhouse Presents THE MONSTER UNDER THE BED, 1/11-27

When Ben's dad goes overseas in war, he gives Ben a pair of binoculars and tells Ben that when Dad is away, he can use the binoculars to see anything he wants. Still, Ben is anxious about his father's absence, and when his friend Vince takes the binoculars without asking, Ben is pushed too far.

Monsters under the bed are supposed to be scary, right? But with Ben's mom acting grumpy, his dad far away, and his best friend not being very nice, Ben turns to his Underbed Monster for friendship. One day, the monster goes to school for Ben, causing a huge ruckus.

"The Monster Under the Bed" is Kevin Dyer's witty take on a typical childhood fantasy. The show is directed by Ron Ziegler. The cast features Peter Erickson as Ben, Roan Withers as Monster, Cody Schug as Dad Monster, Forrest LaPrade as Vince, Julie Dunlap as Celine, Carrie Hardisty as Mum and Miss Rowlands, and Ben Theuma as Danny and Anthony.

The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
